The Global ESG Leadership at NYU (GELC at NYU) is dedicated to addressing global ESG and sustainable challenges by leveraging the insights and expertise of our student community. Our focus encompasses ESG and sustainable annual forums, ESG and sustainability risk management and investing, career development, fostering intercollegiate relationships, and producing student-driven research.

Our mission is to building the world's largest ecosystem dedicated to the research and practice of ESG and sustainable development, focusing on the university youth demographic.

Seven Core Departments of GELC at NYU

General Affair and Strategy Management Committee - GAM

The General Affairs and Strategy Management Committee is responsible for the semi-annual recruitment plan, overseeing the management of the CGELA Alumni Association, and issuing the annual organizational report. Additionally, this department handles the association's finances, ticketing, and other administrative tasks, while also taking charge of the association's strategic development plan, acting as the brain of the organization.

Global Sustainability Development & Research Centre - GDRC

Global Sustainability Development & Research Center is a crucial content-producing department within the organization. It is primarily responsible for drafting sustainable development research reports, providing commentary on hot topics, tracking industry trends, and interpreting policies. The center also prepares and organizes the annual flagship event, the Global Youth Sustainable Development Summit. Additionally, this department serves as a key source of academic speakers for another flagship project, CGELA TALK. Beyond these responsibilities, the center also leads the implementation of the CGELA Consulting Program, guiding organizational members in participating in consulting projects. It is the core department for content production within the organization.

Media and Platform Management Committee - MPM

Media and Platform Management Committee is primarily responsible for the organization's media management, including content creation and maintenance for platforms such as WeChat, Xiaohongshu, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Additionally, it handles event video production, photography, external publishing, and liaising with media and external organizations, serving as the public face and image representative of the organization.

Project Planing and Inter-school Cooperation Committee - PPIC

Project Planing and Inter-school Cooperation Committee is a crucial department responsible for establishing communication and building bridges with external school organizations and non-profit organizations. It oversees strategic collaborations with other organizations, organizes joint promotional activities, co-prepares events, and works with other non-profits on public welfare and charity projects, including joint promotional efforts. Additionally, the department is responsible for internal event planning, uniting and organizing members, and fostering a positive and cohesive organizational atmosphere. Furthermore, the department leads the United Nations visit activities each semester.

CGELA Venture Centre - CVC

CGELA Venture Centre is the venture capital center under CGELA, aiming to build a comprehensive platform that connects high-quality project owners with funding sources while providing peripheral venture capital services such as legal, tax, and banking services. CVC is responsible for organizing a series of company visits twice a year during the winter and summer breaks, leading members and participants to visit numerous investment institutions and industry-leading companies across three to four cities. Additionally, the department oversees the annual flagship project, the CGELA Venture Capital Competition, and the construction and operation of the CXO HUB community.

CGELA International Office - IO

CGELA International Office serves as the bridge between the non-profit organization GELA and the CGELA association. It recruits volunteers globally and organizes sustainability-related activities such as green cycling, hiking, and river tracing. Additionally, the office is responsible for organizing visits and tours of international companies.

Business and Career Development Committee - BCD

Business and Career Development Committee is a key department responsible for the organization's commercial sponsorship programs, hosting business activities, and supporting members' career development by providing employment guidance. This department engages in extensive and in-depth cooperation with sponsors, hosts commercial events, organizes job-sharing sessions, and facilitates corporate visits and exchanges. Additionally, it is responsible for sourcing industry experts and guests for the flagship event, CGELA TALK. It serves as the economic pillar of the organization and a crucial support for the career development of its members.
